“Clutch My Pearls” 100 of the BEST Southern Expressions

Sweet tea is best with a little bit of lemon. Similarly, conversations are best with a splash of southern talk.

Can I get an amen?

I can’t take full credit for this definitive guide.  My friend, Leah Davis, showed up at my doorstep one day with an envelope full of index cards. Written on each card was a southernism. I’ve always loved listening to her colorful expressions and was absolutely touched that she took the time to scratch them all down. Now they can be shared with you!

I’ve added to the list. I also know that there are more expressions to be included in this guide. Will you do me a favor? Send them to me. I love collecting these colloquial gems.

If you like this list you might also like my book, The Growing Season: A Year of Down-On-The-Farm Devotions.  This encouraging book includes 52 devotions, one for every single week of the year.

But now….to the good stuff. Which one is your favorite?
