I am grateful you are considering bringing an author to your classroom. It adds extra excitement for the love of reading and also helps children see writing as a career!
I offer in-person author visits for pre-k to 3rd grade. My presentation is for one or two classrooms at a time so we can keep the group small and have an old-fashioned read-aloud of my children’s books.
- I can use slideshows for my presentations. If so, please provide access to a screen and the ability to connect a laptop/ipad for projecting visuals.
- I can also do the presentation without any technology if you prefer for a good old-fashioned story time!
- Presentations last between 15 to 30 minutes each. It depends on your schedule and needs.
- I’m open to visiting multiple classrooms on the visit. In fact, I would love to visit at least three classrooms per school visit.
- You can request book signings for after the session.
- A book-order form will be sent in advance so your parents can choose to purchase books and plush reading buddies for their child.
Meet the Author (PreK-3rd): Hear some of Sarah’s story, including what it is like to live on a farm. This presentation includes:
- Details about Sarah’s childhood and her everyday life as an author,
- A chance for young students to meet a real-life author and see that it’s something they could do one day too! Sarah is a teacher and has a natural ability to connect and encourage children of all ages.
- Read aloud of Sarah’s children’s books: Moo Moo, Nap, Nap and Wake Up, Little Seed
- Extension activity: How Animals Sleep Game (with a focus on healthy sleep habits) or Planting Seeds for the Classroom (all supplies brought by Sarah for you to grow a windowsill plant in your classroom!)
- Downloadable coloring sheets sent to your inbox.
- Q&A time at the end
