Welcome!

Hey there! I'm Sarah, a mama to 4 littles and wife to one hard workin' farmer (who happens to be my sweetie since high school). I have my Ph.D in the field of education, but these days I can be found cleaning peanut butter & jelly off the counter, dreaming of traveling the world, hosting “get-togethers” for my family & friends, and chasing my kids around the farm. I'm the author of Moo, Moo Nap, Nap; The Growing Season: A Year of Down-on-the-Farm Devotions and Loved Baby: 31 Devotions Helping You Grieve and Cherish Your Child After Pregnancy Loss. Please make yourself at home. I hope this place gives you a bit of respite. Just know I'm a true southerner...so a lot of y'alls might be thrown in the mix.

Women need women. We need safe places to laugh, cr Women need women. We need safe places to laugh, cry, share our stories, and remind each other that we’re not walking through life alone.

Whether you’re carrying something big or simply craving a good conversation, godly friendship is such a gift.

This week, reach out to a friend. Send the text. Make the call. Wave in the carpool line.

Even a few minutes of connection can lift your spirit and make your heart smile. ❤️

Who can you encourage this week?
The seat that launched a thousand fights… Okay mo The seat that launched a thousand fights…

Okay mom’s of multiple kids. You know EXACTLY what I’m talking about: the passenger seat.

Which kids gets it on which day?

I’m curious how you “take turns” in your car.

I guess one day I’ll drive around solo and miss those fights- but right now I just need a really good strategy. Or moms to say “I get this!” Ha!

ALSO- personal choice, we don’t use electronics in our car. Call me strange but I am fully convinced kids need to be looking out the window (yes even if they are bored) to help them be better drivers in the future. I don’t want their bodies to automatically think they need to be watching something when they start driving. They need to know how to drive. Also- I like that it forces us to talk.

Or them to argue and me to scream. We are making ALL types of memories. ☠️

So tell me- what’s your strategy? Last year they each had two days of the week.

I’ve also considered just letting them UFC style fight it out each morning until we determine the alpha. Survival of the fittest. But these kids are so competitive it would not end well. 🤣
The sweetness of her sitting beside me in church, The sweetness of her sitting beside me in church, baby wrapped in her arms, and asking me to turn in the Bible to the scripture the preacher directed us to read. The sweetness of babies gurgling in church and all the littles being in the pews at “big church”.

It brought back memories of my little church where I grew up. We didn’t have children’s church; we sat on the pews (or under the pews—ha!) while singing the hymns and listening to the preacher read the word of God. Every Sunday the kids got up and sang “Jesus Loves Me”.

It’s fond memories and so glad I’m making new ones with a new generation. I think I’m going to have her sit beside me more often. 🤍

Calling all Oregon-Trail Millennial Moms: I’m abo Calling all Oregon-Trail Millennial Moms: I’m about to be totally vulnerable.

What are you doing about hole where you used to flaunt your belly ring?

I took out my diamond upon the pregnancy of my first child. But four children later the hole is way more noticeable.

Do you one-piece it?
High waisted two piece?
Put a ring back on it?
Plastic surgery?

Really- just tell me I’m not alone. ☠️

It’s not like I’m wearing belly shirts circa our Brittany Spears years- but while at the beach I do like to occasionally wear a two piece. And it’s not the extra layers that bother me- but that hole reminding me that what once looked amazing on hard-earned abs is not the same on a millennial mom with four kids. Ha!

My kids think I should put a 💎 back in. I am not so sure.

(Also/ bathing suit photo shoot courtesy of my daughter who fancies herself a photographer and I, of course, obliged).

Kids- I apologize for mortifying you when you see this one day on social media.

BUT I KNOW I’m not the only one out here with this issue. 🤣

What’s your last step?

July on the Farm: Blackberry Jalapeño Jam This mon July on the Farm: Blackberry Jalapeño Jam
This month, I’m sharing a summertime favorite: Blackberry Jalapeño Jam. This recipe is a favorite of my friend Leighann, who grows her own peppers and often gets fresh blackberries from us. It’s sweet, a little spicy, and perfect for spreading on biscuits, toast, or even serving with cheese and crackers.
Before you begin, make sure you have the proper water bath canning supplies and are familiar with the water bath canning process. Gather your supplies, read through the steps, and then give this delicious recipe a try!
Blackberry Jalapeño Jam
Ingredients:
6 cups fresh blackberries
2–3 jalapeños, seeded and finely chopped
1 box pectin, 1.75 oz.
7 cups sugar
12 half-pint mason jars, cleaned and sterilized
Directions:
Rinse the blackberries and finely chop the jalapeños.
Place the berries and peppers in a large pot.
Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continually. You’ll be stirring until the end, so don’t stop!
Slowly add the pectin and stir until dissolved.

If you aren’t a writer or creative you might think If you aren’t a writer or creative you might think I’m speaking “crazy talk”. Ha. But if you are a writer you will totally identify with the concept of an idea coming to you and you have this urge to sprint and catch the idea before it drifts away. Meaning: you HAVE to get it out of your mind onto the safety of paper. It’s like seeing a gorgeous helium balloon in the horizon and you MUST catch it! How do I capture these ideas? What’s my safe storage method? Text yourself. 🎈

Tell me: what’s your strategy?

& obviously this is me in no make-up early morning time of writing. Don’t judge. Ha.

Living on our farm gives me a front-row seat to se Living on our farm gives me a front-row seat to see God's creation in action. Those of us who garden or live on a farm/ranch get the opportunity to see the full cycle of growth. I wanted to celebrate this lifestyle by writing Wake Up, Little Seed and also help children, who don't have a front-row-farm seat, see the cycle of growth play-out. The book includes lift-the-flaps so that children can engage in the process.

The book's core message is that God is central to growth. A seed doesn't magically go into the ground and emerge as a plant through magic- but from God. God is the WHO of the science.

If you’ve already purchased the book, I’d be so grateful if you’d take a moment to leave a review on Amazon. Reviews make such a big difference and help more readers discover the book.

If you haven’t purchased it yet, I’d love for you to take a look and grab your copy here: https://amzn.to/4jJwfB3

Some days just end up being like a Bluey episode! Some days just end up being like a Bluey episode! The rain kept us from the river, but the littles found muddy puddles & Chinese checkers. Don’t be deceived— only reason for his wrapping his arms around her was to pop a firecracker popper on her.

I hate, hate any plans in the summer (other than vacation 🤣) or any organized activity.

Promise- if you give them a chance to grow bored they will find all kinds of fun!

You like plans or let things just unfold in the summer?
Thinking ahead! In 90 days we will have fields of Thinking ahead! In 90 days we will have fields of pumpkins & sunflowers. We used the seeds we saved from last year’s gorgeous sunflowers to plant along the pumpkin rows. This is why I wrote Wake Up, Little Seed- I want kids to understand that the process of growth takes times, it requires the hands of individuals & God’s grand design. @tyndalekids
